I am the mum of two disabled adult sons who are both married and supported by Personal Assistants who they employ through Direct Payments. I have worked for many years supporting families of disabled children and young people. I was the founder parent of Kindred-Scotland (Previously called SNIP) and since leaving there I have worked for a wide range of organisations, including Changing Faces, National Autistic Society and Inclusion Scotland.

My work as an independent trainer and consultant in childhood disability has also taken me to Russia, Cyprus and the Czech Republic, where I have worked with parents and educationalists towards disabled children moving from residential settings back into the community.

I also have experience of working directly with young adults with learning disabilities and/or on the autistic spectrum.

My role within EDG’s ‘Our Future in Our Hands’ project is as an external evaluator, contacting people who get involved about their experience of the project, whether or not they eventually go on to be part of a co-operative. EDG wants to use this feedback to inform how they develop the project going forward, to make sure it reflects the needs of those taking part.
